2011 BOYS INSTRUCTION VIDEOS
A Couple of Thoughts for TJ (That Apply to Everyone):
✅ Positives
-
TJ does a great job curling his run and getting his body and hips into proper position.
-
Excellent body motion on the follow-through — he leaves the ground with his plant foot and lands on his shooting foot. This is exactly what we want to see.
⚠️ Technical Tips
-
Plant Foot Position:
-
TJ’s plant foot is too far behind the ball. It should be placed directly beside the ball to ensure better control and power.
-
-
Shooting Ankle:
-
His shooting ankle should be locked through the strike. A good visual for the boys: "Try to get your heel to touch your calf" all the way through the follow-through.
-
Thoughts for Kyler
✅ Positives
-
Kyler’s plant foot positioning is excellent.
-
His left hand is in a great position, helping with balance.
-
Like TJ, Kyler shows great body motion on his follow-through — he leaves the ground with his plant foot and lands on his shooting foot. That’s exactly what we’re looking for.
⚠️ Technical Tips
-
Avoid Scooping the Ball:
-
Kyler tends to “scoop” the ball with his foot. This causes a loss of both accuracy and power. The ankle should stay locked through the entire kick — no flicking or lifting with the toes.
-
-
Creating Height:
-
If Kyler wants height or air under the ball, he should lean his upper body back slightly — not try to lift the ball with his foot.
-
-
Shooting Low & Strong: Ideal for shooting on goal:
• Lock the ankle
• Keep chest and head over the ball
• Look down at the ball at the moment of contact
Thoughts for Greyson
✅ Positives
-
Greyson’s plant foot and body position are strong — a solid foundation for consistent striking.
-
His body motion and shape after the follow-through are excellent — forming a nice “C” shape, which shows good energy transfer and balance.
⚠️ Technical Tips
-
Use of Left Arm:
-
Lifting his left arm during the strike will help generate more energy and balance, giving him extra drive to explode through the ball.
-
-
Ankle Integrity:
-
Like Kyler and TJ, Greyson’s ankle loses integrity on contact. His ankle should remain locked from strike through follow-through to ensure maximum power and accuracy.
